So they say you should be able to carry on a normal conversation while exercising. I'm still trying to figure out who "they" are. But "they" sure do make a lot of rules.
They say you should be able to talk, but not sing. I can understand the talking part...but singing? Who sings while they work out? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?...
Anywho ~ so the other night I'm running on our newly found treadmill watching Seinfeld. I say newly found...but really it wasn't found so much as just given to us. Literally. Our fabulous next door neighbors decided since they don't use it, and I guess they were tired of it gathering dust in their garage, so they G-A-V-E it to us. No strings attached (that we know of!) And it's a pretty nice treadmill at that. We're still trying to figure out what we did to deserve it.
We were thrilled to say the least (as we've been wanting one for a while)! All we had to do was wheel it out of their garage, down their driveway and up ours. I figure if they're not using their treadmill, they're surely not going to deliver it to our house. Sounds fair. (and "Don't call me Shirley." - name that flick)
So we've wheeled it over, set it up, and let it sit for a week or so...and I decided to hop on. So I'm walkin/running along on the treadmill, watching tv in our un-air-conditioned 'man cave' (we haven't gotten to the a/c part yet!) and after Seinfeld, I start watching "The Biggest Loser Families." Now if that's not motivation, I don't know what is.
I'm not huge on reality tv, but when I find a show I like, I get pretty engrossed in it. I think I like this show. These peeps have had some real struggles in their lives, and they are actually taking accountability and doing something about it. But that woman trainer...I think she's part man. She's very manly looking.
So they finish the challenge at the end, and a few teams win a care package from home. They go to open their care package and I lose it. I'm walking on my 5 incline with my hand weights, looking like the old lady you see pumping her arms up and down walking down the street (you know you make fun of her) and just bawling crying.
(I tend to do that when watching tv).
It is hard to exercise when you're bawling crying. So I want to to tell "them"...that while you should be able to talk but not sing while exercising, I don't think you should be able to cry while exercising. It's difficult. And I imagine it's just as difficult as singing while exercising. And no, I didn't try to sing and exercise to compare. Maybe next time I will.
Oh, and I'm teaching Tasmo how to use the treadmill. Here he is after our first adventure all tuckered out....and being not so happy with me that I didn't take him outside instead.
