Time Management!

Most everyone knows, but just in case you haven't heard, Avery Faith was born on August 18th! Stats and details to come later, along with lots of updates on our little adventure into a family of four! But everyone is doing well, and she is quite the little angel. Big sister, Sayla Grace, is absolutely in love with her - minus the few episodes of jealousy every now and then.

Just wanted to give a quick update to let everyone know that I'm no longer swollen and pregnant, and that as soon as I have more than 5 minutes, I will post pictures and updates, I promise!!! I just never imagined how crazy things become when you add a second baby to the mix.

So for now, I'm working on my time management skills and as soon as I find the time that seems to have gone away the minute she was born, I'll fill you in!

Swollen Sally

I'm still pregnant. And very swollen! I need to keep my feet up, but I'm finding it difficult to sit still for very long. Not only because I'm getting bored and anxious, but because if I sit in one place for too long I'm likely to get stuck.

We went back to the doctor for our weekly visit on Monday. I'm up to 4cm dilated, but no contractions. Well, I've had a few - which has gotten me up to 4cm - but nothing worth getting excited about.

We had an option to schedule an induction for Monday, August 23rd, but decided against it. The doctor doesn't find it medically necessary at this point, and she expects that I will naturally go into labor before Monday. And in the event that I don't, we still have the option to induce on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. But I'm still not even sure I want to do that. I've officially freaked myself out about the possible side effects of inducing, and now I can't bring myself to commit to it.

Avery has dropped, and I'm finding moving more difficult in general, so maybe the doctor is correct in her thoughts of impending labor. I've repacked our bags just in case, and we're ready to go at a moment's notice!

And so now I guess the official waiting game begins. The anticipation is kind of fun!!

Kind of!

Avery Update

Avery is still in utero. A very large utero, if I must say so myself. We ventured out to church on Sunday (more on that in another post) and more than once I was asked if I was carrying twins and didn't know it! Given all of our ultrasounds thus far, it is HIGHLY unlikely that is the case, but I guess anything is possible. Although I think that would be a cruel joke!

We've changed our weekly doctor visits to Monday's, and when we went yesterday, we got another ultrasound. She weighs 6lbs 4ozs and is locked and ready - head down with no room to spare. But she's still very high and very cozy. I have dilated a bit more, from 2cm to 3cm in a week's time. And I've had some mild contractions daily, but nothing worth calling the doctor about. Just enough to be irritating!

I've been mall walking, walking around the block, riding over railroad tracks and eating hot wings. I've tried inducing labor via acupressure and everything in between. Except Castor oil. I refuse to try that. But so far, nothing has worked.

This morning I got a wild hair and walked Sayla Grace ALL the way around the block - something I haven't done since before I got pregnant with her! And this afternoon I baked some yummy chocolate chip cookie bars with marshmallow fruity pebbles mixed in them (and on top!). I, of course, can't eat them, but the recipe looked so yummy I couldn't resist!

The plan right now is to go to the doctor next Monday, and try to schedule an induction for the following Monday, but that all depends on if insurance will let us schedule it that early. I have a feeling that I'm either going to go into labor during one of Owen's law school finals next week, or I'll have to be induced, suffer a long, hard labor and end up with a c-section anyway. That'll be my luck.

Why don't I just wait for her to arrive on her own? I'm not sure. I'm really struggling with that, and will divulge more after I've had more time to think about it. But until then...
